Carmen hopes her life work will bring more awareness to the effects of Domestic Violence.
Sabrina Diaz, Secretary/Treasurer
Sabrina Diaz was born in the Bronx, New York, and faced many challenges growing up in a dysfunctional household. It wasn’t until she had her own children that she realized her version of “normal” wasn’t healthy. A two-time domestic violence survivor, she pursued education during her healing journey, determined to set a better example for her kids.
After relocating to Florida, Sabrina’s eldest joined the military, while her second child became involved in gang activities, which deeply affected the family. This inspired her to create “Color Tyze Inc.,” a nonprofit aimed at helping former gang members, previously incarcerated individuals, and their families reintegrate into their communities. She also became a board member of the “Survivor Center”, supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sabrina holds a certification as a Credible Messenger and has education as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT). She works closely with the Orange County School Board as a substitute teacher and has begun to collaborate with organizations like “Gloves Up Guns Down,” the Youth Advocate Program (YAP). Through these connections, she believes in the power of unity to bring about positive change in communities.
Sabrina emphasizes that domestic violence is a pervasive issue that affects everyone, and we must stand against it. “We are called to resist using violence, even in retaliation for violence used against us” (Luke 6:29).
